A gathering of family over a meal of green chile enchiladas in Albuquerque, New Mexico, took a tragic and fatal turn on the evening of August 27, 2026. Nathaniel Cavazos, a 25-year-old man, was shot and killed during a dispute with his own cousin. The man accused of the crime is his 22-year-old cousin, Ervin Joaquin Gutierrez, who had traveled from Roswell to spend time with Nathaniel and another cousin at an apartment complex in the northeast part of the city.
