On October 23, 2017, Jason Estes, a 20-year-old male, was shot and killed in Pittsburgh's Homewood South neighborhood. The incident occurred in the early morning hours, around 3:30 a.m., following a ShotSpotter alert that detected two shots fired in the 700 block of Brushton Avenue. Responding officers found Jason suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 6 a.m.
