Kareem Dacres, a 22-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was shot on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2014, on the 1700 block of Pike Street. Philadelphia police officers were called to the scene at about 5:42 p.m., where they found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. What had begun as a holiday evening became the start of a violent struggle for survival, and officers transported Kareem to Temple University Hospital for emergency treatment.
