James Fleming, a 39-year-old Black male from Homewood, was outside along Kedron Street in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood on July 16, 2013, when an ordinary afternoon turned into a homicide investigation. Police said the shooting happened around 12:40 to 12:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of Kedron Street, where Fleming had been working on a vehicle outside a home. Witnesses reported hearing a car and then three or four gunshots. When people came outside, Fleming was found lying on the sidewalk.
