In the early hours of October 12, 2016, tragedy struck in Denver, Colorado, forever altering the lives of those who knew and loved Deonta Mcdonald. The 19-year-old Black male, known affectionately as “D” or “Slim,” was shot at approximately 1:00 a.m. in the 1300 block of S. Birch St. He was found with a gunshot wound at the doorway of an apartment and was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
