On November 19, 2008, Billy Floyd McVea, a 46-year-old resident of San Antonio, Texas, was fatally shot while walking through an apartment complex on Ray Bon Drive, located on the city’s Northeast Side. The incident occurred around building 17, where McVea was shot in the lower torso. He was visiting friends at the complex when he decided to leave one friend's apartment to visit another. During this walk, he was targeted and shot by an unknown assailant. He was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The San Antonio Police Department began investigating the shooting but, as of the initial reports, had no clear motive or suspects. In hopes of advancing the investigation, Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible. Authorities have called for anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in solving the case.
