Woman found dead after going on a date
Sarah Anne Elizabeth Kashka, a 15-year-old from Denton, Texas, was tragically killed on December 31, 1984. Sarah had been visiting friends in Fort Worth when she disappeared. On the evening of December 30, she was last seen near the Wedgwood Terrace Apartments, reportedly intending to visit a friend across the street from a Dairy Queen. That night, she vanished without a trace, and her friends and family became increasingly concerned about her whereabouts.
Her body was discovered a few days later, on January 1, 1985, in a swampy area near Mountain Creek in southwest Dallas County. The investigation revealed that Sarah had been raped and stabbed multiple times, including wounds to her neck and chest. The brutal nature of her death shocked the local community and added to the list of unsolved homicides plaguing the area during that period.
Sarah's murder was one of several killings involving young women in the Fort Worth and Dallas areas during the mid-1980s. Authorities linked these cases together based on the similar victim profiles—most were young, attractive women who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The circumstances of Sarah's death fit the pattern that investigators were exploring, with many of these homicides occurring in a relatively small geographic area over a few months. Despite considerable investigative efforts, including the formation of a task force and the questioning of several suspects, Sarah's murder remains unsolved.
One suspect, Remsen Newbold Wolff, was questioned in connection with several of these unsolved cases, including Sarah's. He was suspected of involvement in multiple rapes and slayings of young women in the area, and his apartment was searched for photographs of victims, including Sarah. However, despite being held for investigation, there was insufficient evidence to formally charge him with the murders, and he was eventually released. The lack of definitive evidence hindered the progress of the case, leaving Sarah's death as one of the numerous unsolved mysteries haunting the families of the victims.
