Leopoldo M. Vela, a 57-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot on the morning of October 31, 2016, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally from La Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico, Vela was working at his business, Los Tres Portillo's Centro de Envios/Corona Jewelry, a precious metals and gems dealer and grocery store located at 1401 S. 7th Street at the time of the incident. The shooting occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m.
During what authorities believe was a robbery, Vela was shot in the chest.
