On August 20, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., 22-year-old D’Anthony Dejuan Jones was fatally shot while seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the 2100 block of Avenue I in Ensley, Birmingham, Alabama. An unknown assailant approached and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, targeting Jones. The driver, who was uninjured, transported Jones to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:39 a.m.
