On a Wednesday morning in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of Darryl Bowie, a 56-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On November 15, 2023, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Bowie was in the 400 block of 5th Street Pratt when an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire in a drive-by shooting. Responding to a call of a person shot, West Precinct officers arrived to find a grim scene. Bowie was discovered lying unresponsive in the roadway, having sustained a gunshot wound.
