In the early morning hours of August 15, 2020, a violent encounter in the New Canaan community of Cullman County, Alabama, resulted in the death of 24-year-old Levi Benjamin Lawrence of Cullman. Lawrence, a White male, had been invited to a residence on County Road 1854 by acquaintances. The situation escalated into a fatal shooting that also claimed the life of 36-year-old Dalton Matthew Bannister of Blountsville and left a woman seriously injured.
