In the early hours of November 2, 2021, a residence on 11th Court in central Tuscaloosa became the scene of a fatal shooting. Just after midnight, officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department were dispatched to the location following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Maurice Devon Jones Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services transported him to DCH Regional Medical Center, but tragically, he did not survive his injuries.
