In the spring of 2021, a burst of violence at an East Birmingham gas station tragically cut short the life of Sheila Chantel Johnson. On the evening of May 12, gunfire erupted at a Shell on 1st Avenue North, leaving three people wounded. Among them was 27-year-old Sheila, who sustained life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to UAB Hospital, where she fought for her life for several weeks.
