Nia Peoples, a 30-year-old Black woman from Birmingham, Alabama, died on October 12, 2021, after a morning shooting that left her collapsing in the front yard of a home in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue West. Police were dispatched at about 7:35 a.m., and when officers and Birmingham Fire and Rescue reached the scene, they found her unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
