On a cold Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 26-year-old Mikael Rashad McCord Sr. was cut tragically short. On December 4, 2021, McCord was found unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the 900 block of 25th Street North. He had sustained a gunshot wound, and despite being rushed to UAB Hospital, he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The male victim's death was one of several homicides that troubled the city that year.
