Jose “Anthony” Hernandez Jr., a 29-year-old Hispanic / Latino male, was shot in Wilmington, Delaware, after police were called to the 1000 block of West 6th Street late on July 24, 2010. The night had already slipped toward midnight when the call came in, around 11:29 p.m., reporting a shooting in the neighborhood. Officers arrived and found Hernandez wounded by gunfire. He was taken for medical care, but he did not survive his injuries.
