On the evening of February 24, 2022, a 50-year-old Black / African American man named Marcus Antonio Williams was found deceased in Birmingham, Alabama. The Birmingham Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert around 7:25 p.m. which led them to the 600 block of 1st Street North in the Smithfield neighborhood. There, they discovered Williams inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
