In the fall of 2022, a wave of violence claimed the life of 21-year-old Montrail Tremaine Hardy in Birmingham, Alabama. On the afternoon of Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Hardy was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a Black male. The preliminary investigation by the Birmingham Police Department suggested that the shooting stemmed from some form of altercation.
