On the evening of November 9, 2023, a young man named Dakota R. Lamons was riding his bicycle in Cullman County, Alabama. The 19-year-old male was traveling along Alabama 91, near County Road 501, approximately eight miles south of Hanceville, when his life was abruptly cut short. A vehicle, later identified as a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, struck Lamons and fled the scene. The impact of the collision threw him from his bicycle, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
