In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Bessemer, Alabama, a dispute turned deadly, claiming the life of 43-year-old Demetrius LaKeen Fletcher. On July 18, 2024, just before the stroke of midnight, Fletcher was involved in an argument in the 1900 block of 10th Avenue North. The verbal confrontation escalated tragically, resulting in Fletcher being fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
