In a tragic turn of events, 19-month-old Gabriel Adriel Alonso Romero of McCalla, Alabama, died after being brought to a local hospital with multiple injuries. The young boy was taken to the emergency room at UAB Medical Center West by his mother's boyfriend, who then left the premises. Medical staff were unable to save the toddler, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was immediately notified and launched an investigation into the child's death.
