On an autumn evening in Alabaster, Alabama, tragedy struck at a Shell gas station near Interstate 65. It was there, on November 2, 2024, that 45-year-old Ricardo Pastrana Perez, a resident of nearby Columbiana, was fatally shot. When Alabaster police officers arrived at the scene in response to reports of a shooting, they found Mr. Perez deceased. Investigators confirmed that he was not an employee of the gas station, nor was he there as a customer at the time of the incident.
