In the late afternoon of Monday, June 8, 2015, a burst of violence shattered the peace in the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, SE in Washington, D.C. Twenty-one-year-old Qur'an R. Vines, a male resident of the Southeast area, was shot and killed in a fatal incident that occurred at approximately 4:01 p.m.
