On a Sunday afternoon in Phenix City, Alabama, a burst of violence cut short the life of 23-year-old Jaylan Howard. The young man, known affectionately as 'Jay' to his friends and family, was shot on January 21, 2024, in the 1900 block of 13th Avenue. First responders rushed him to Piedmont Columbus Regional hospital, but his injuries proved fatal. He was pronounced dead at 4:13 P.M. that day from an apparent gunshot wound.
