In the early evening of January 7, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Vernica Searcy, a Black female from Montgomery, Alabama, was tragically cut short. First responders were called to the 3800 block of South Court Street around 6:20 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ms. Searcy suffering from a fatal gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
