In the summer of 2023, tragedy struck in Montgomery, Alabama, when 25-year-old Melvin Jerome Steiner, Jr., a native and resident of the city, was killed. On the evening of Monday, July 10th, Steiner was fatally shot on Hugh Street, in front of McIntyre Comprehensive Academy. He was not the only person to lose his life in the incident; 21-year-old Lamarch Russell, Jr. was also killed in the same shooting.
