In the early evening of a Tuesday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the life of 22-year-old Larry Maddix Jr. was cut short by gunfire. On December 6, 2022, police were called to the Hodo Haven Apartments on 33rd Street East around 6:10 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Maddix, a male victim, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit immediately began an active investigation into the shooting, which marked the 20th homicide in Tuscaloosa County for that year.
