On a summer evening in Selma, Alabama, the life of 23-year-old Aiesha Franklin, a Black female from the nearby community of Minter, was tragically cut short. On June 11, 2022, while sitting in her parked vehicle on the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, Franklin was fatally shot. Selma police officers responded to reports of gunfire around 8:30 p.m. and discovered her at the scene. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced deceased.
