On the first day of the new year, a life was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. Christopher Damond Sankey, a 34-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of January 1, 2022. The incident, which marked one of the city's first homicides of the year, occurred around 3:11 p.m. in the vicinity of Mobile Road near Beecher Street.
