In the late hours of a spring Sunday in Bessemer, Alabama, the life of Torie Demarcus Bouyer, a 41-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short. On May 3, 2020, Bouyer was found shot in the 800 block of 16th Street North. The Bessemer Police Department responded to a call of a person down and discovered Bouyer inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
