In the fading daylight of a Thursday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 33-year-old Kahlia Duquan Sturdivant, a Black male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On March 26, 2020, Sturdivant was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle in the Ensley neighborhood. The grim discovery was made by Birmingham's West Precinct officers who were dispatched to the 1300 block of Ensley Avenue following reports of a person shot.
