On the evening of February 5, 2019, Grant Binford, a 35-year-old Black male, was at his home on Singletree Drive in Hazel Green, Alabama, when two men reportedly forced their way into his residence. During the encounter, Binford was shot. Madison County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a shooting in progress at approximately 8:45 p.m. and found Binford with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
