On a Wednesday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of Nancy Christine Mitchell Swift, a dedicated and beloved 63-year-old female nursing supervisor, was tragically cut short. The events unfolded on March 14, 2018, at UAB Highlands hospital, where Swift had worked for the last decade of her more than 40-year nursing career. A disgruntled worker entered the hospital and opened fire, fatally wounding Swift. Another medical worker was also injured in the attack but ultimately survived.
