In the early morning hours of January 24, 2014, the life of Timothy Latrell Derrick, a 34-year-old Black or African American man, was tragically cut short in his Huntsville, Alabama, residence. Authorities responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Derrick's body inside his home located in the 4000 block of Garth Avenue. It was determined that he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, and his death was immediately classified as a homicide.
