In the early morning hours of March 1, 1979, the community of New Brockton, Alabama, was shaken by the violent death of Coffee County Sheriff C.F. 'Neil' Grantham. A 51-year-old male, Sheriff Grantham was a respected figure in the county he served. His life was cut short when he was ambushed and fatally shot as he arrived for work at the county jail.
