In the summer of 1957, the life of J.C. Woodham, a 48-year-old White male, was tragically cut short in Geneva, Alabama. On August 5th of that year, Woodham, who served as the local sheriff, confronted two individuals who were suspected of stealing narcotics from a nearby hospital. During this encounter, the suspects opened fire, gravely wounding Sheriff Woodham. He battled his injuries for two days before succumbing to them on August 7, 1957.
