Marqus McNeil was a 20-year-old Native Hawaiian man from Honolulu who died on March 19, 2022, after a late-night confrontation on a crowded Waikīkī sidewalk turned violent. It happened near the intersection of Kalākaua Avenue and Lewers Street, a place usually humming with visitors and bright storefront lights, where arguments are supposed to burn out and be forgotten by morning. Instead, this one escalated into a fatal shooting that left McNeil wounded and the street scrambling in shock.
