In the early morning hours of May 5, 2023, the life of 45-year-old JiTu Cambuke Garrett, a Black male from Meriden, Connecticut, was tragically cut short in New Haven. The fatal incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Vernon Street, where Garrett was shot following what authorities believe was a dispute.
