Christopher Liszak, a 49-year-old resident of Oakland Park, Florida, did not die on September 20, 2024, but rather on September 23, 2024. The incident occurred outside a beachfront extended-stay hotel located at 365 Ocean Boulevard in Boca Raton, Florida.
The altercation began with an argument between Chandler Dill, 32, also from Oakland Park, and the alleged shooter, De'Vante Moss, a 30-year-old resident of Boynton Beach.
Dill had rented a room at the hotel and was there with Moss before the fatal confrontation. The situation escalated in the parking lot when others, including Liszak, attempted to intervene.
According to police, Moss retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and opened fire, killing both Dill and Liszak at close range. A third man, who had also intervened, was shot but survived. This man was seen crawling towards the hotel after being shot, and Moss followed him, shooting him again in the abdomen.
De'Vante Moss fled the scene in his Jaguar and was later apprehended in Laurens County, Georgia, less than 24 hours after the incident. Moss is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. Police indicated that while they could not confirm the exact nature of the relationships between the individuals involved, it appeared that they knew each other.
The events leading up to the shooting involved Moss leaving a hotel room with a purse, which led to a fight with a woman. This altercation drew in Liszak and the other male victim, resulting in the tragic outcome. Moss's fiancée reported that he had packed a bag earlier that day, claiming he was headed to Jacksonville for work, but instead, he was involved in this deadly incident in Boca Raton.
