On June 22, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Clearwater, Florida, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Isaiah Matthew Fields. The incident took place at approximately 4:02 a.m. at 200 South Starcrest Drive, where Fields and the suspect, 27-year-old Treco De'Andre Miller, were at Miller's apartment along with other acquaintances.
The events leading to the shooting began with an argument between Miller and Fields, which escalated into a physical altercation.
According to witness statements, the initial altercation occurred inside Fields' residence around 3:15 a.m. and then moved outside to a second-story landing in front of Miller’s apartment door. During the struggle, both men fell down the stairs to the ground floor. Miller then returned to his apartment, locked the door, and retrieved a shotgun from his bedroom. He went back outside and found Fields again at his door, leading to a second altercation. Despite being unarmed, Fields approached Miller, who was still armed with the shotgun. The confrontation ended when Miller fatally shot Fields in the chest with the shotgun.
Clearwater Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene after reports of the shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Fields with a gunshot wound and provided first aid until fire rescue crews arrived. Fields was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
Treco De'Andre Miller was arrested by Clearwater Police detectives and charged with second-degree murder. His bond has been set at $250,000, and he was scheduled to appear in court on June 26, 2024. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
Isaiah Matthew Fields, known to his loved ones as "Zay," left behind a family that includes his son Riley Fields, parents Carlos Fields, Sr. and Mandy L. Long, siblings William Long, Devon Long, Carlos Fields, Makala Fields, and Aiyana Fields, as well as numerous grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and friends.
