On March 1, 2024, 18-year-old Reginald Fields was fatally shot in Bradenton, Florida. The incident occurred in the 3500 block of 5th Street East around 6:30 p.m. Fields was inside a parked car with other individuals when a handgun discharged.
According to witnesses, the shooting happened while the group was in the vehicle. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, Fields had already been taken to a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries shortly before 7 p.m.
The investigation led by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office revealed that the shooting was accidental. Detectives determined that 18-year-old Jabarre Burney was playing with a handgun when it fired, causing the fatal injuries to Fields.
Following the investigation, Jabarre Burney was charged with manslaughter on March 8, 2024. The case is still under investigation by the authorities.
