On July 3, 2023, a double homicide occurred in the 200 block of Knox McRae Drive in Titusville, Florida. The victims were identified as Luis Alfredo Orozco Cambara, 32, and Otwual Ramon Castillo, 32, both from Cocoa, Florida. The incident was reported around 2:50 PM after several 911 calls alerted police to shots fired and multiple victims found in and near a parked vehicle in the parking area of the Sandalwood Apartments.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found Luis Alfredo Orozco Cambara lying just outside the vehicle and Otwual Ramon Castillo inside the vehicle. Both victims had apparent gunshot wounds and were declared deceased at the scene. The unknown suspect(s) had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Initial investigations indicated that the incident was isolated and not random. However, the motive and details of the incident were not immediately clear, leaving tenants of the apartment complex concerned about their safety.
A thorough and intensive investigation by the Titusville Police Detectives later revealed that the homicide was drug-related, with two kilos of cocaine recovered at the scene. This investigation led to the identification and arrest of three suspects.
On December 29, 2023, arrest warrants were issued, and three individuals were charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Premeditated Murder. Antario Lavon McCoy, 30, of Cocoa, and Nicarrion Lee Anderson, 18, of Cocoa, who were already in custody at the Brevard County Jail on separate charges, were among those arrested. Andreal Yumun Curry Jr., 24, of Mims, was taken into custody by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Game Over Task Force on December 28, 2023. All three suspects remain in the Brevard County Jail without bond.
The investigation highlighted that the crime was linked to drug activities, a common theme in many violent crimes in the area, according to Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson. The Titusville Police Department expressed gratitude for the hard work of their detectives in bringing the suspects to justice, though the investigation remains ongoing.
