Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of 'multiple shots fired' around 6 p.m. and found Christie critically injured.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next morning at approximately 9:30 a.m..
The Marion County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation into Christie's death, which they have termed an 'isolated incident.' There is currently no evidence to suggest that this shooting is connected to another fatal shooting that occurred in the area just two weeks prior, in which 17-year-old Lezarius Graham was found deceased in a wooded area.
Christie was a student who attended both Forest High School and Lake Weir High School, where he was active in sports, playing football and basketball. He was also part of YMCA and traveling basketball teams. His family described him as a 'social butterfly' with many friends and a good relationship with his family. Christie had aspirations to start his own business and was considering obtaining a Commercial Driver's License.

His aunt, Chenora Adjei-Christie, emphasized that Tylique was a loving young man who loved his family and was not isolated, despite some of his friendships being with individuals the family did not approve of.
