In the early afternoon of a Friday in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunfire shattered the autumn air in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. When the tragic echoes faded, a man lay wounded. It was approximately 12:33 p.m. on November 8, 2024, when officers from the Seventh District, who were in the vicinity, responded to the scene.
