On a Sunday evening in Atlanta, the life of 45-year-old Demarco Mathis was cut short in a sudden act of violence. The male victim was at the Arts Center MARTA station on August 11, 2024, when the tranquil atmosphere of the bus loop was shattered by the sound of gunshots around 9 p.m. A security officer on patrol rushed to the scene to find Mathis with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called, and he was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
