In the new year's early days, the city of Columbus, Georgia, was rocked by its first homicide of 2024. On the evening of Monday, January 8, 2024, 39-year-old William Thomas Brown, a male student at Columbus Technical College, was tragically killed. The fatal incident unfolded inside an apartment on Fort Benning Road, where Brown sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the emergency room at Piedmont Columbus Regional, he was pronounced dead at 6:51 p.m.
