In the early hours of an August morning, the life of 19-year-old JaLeal Daeshawn Hurt was tragically cut short on the near northwest side of Indianapolis. On August 20, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call of a person shot in the 600 block of Udell Street, an area just a few blocks south of the historic Crown Hill Cemetery.
