In the early morning hours of August 1, 2024, the life of 26-year-old Mark Johnson Jr., a Black male, was cut short in Gonzales, Louisiana. Deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apartment on Highway 44 at approximately 1 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Johnson inside his residence, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
