In the early evening of May 1, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 800 block of West 70th Street in Shreveport, Louisiana. When the sounds of the shootout subsided, 17-year-old Artavious Taysean Prim, a male, lay critically wounded. He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The incident marked the 24th homicide in Shreveport that year. Prim was a senior at Woodlawn High School, just weeks away from his graduation.
