On October 23, 2023, a shooting at a trailer off Highway 27 in Carlyss, Louisiana, led to the death of 43-year-old Brittany Ann Prather. A White female, Prather was discovered at the scene with gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries on October 26, 2023. Another individual, 39-year-old Cole A. Sandifer, was also found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
